چکیده

In recent years, Pillared InterLayered Clays (PILCs) have been widely used in several applications; in particular in adsorption and catalysis. The research interest in this family of solids has increased considerably. Clay minerals provide distinct nanometer-scaled layers and interlayers for engineering them as active catalysts. As such, strategic design and preparation has led to a variety of catalysts, including ion exchanged catalysts, acidic activated clay catalysts, intercalated catalysts, pillared clay catalysts, claysupported catalysts, inorganic and inorganic–organic composites and hybrids, and hierarchically structured solid catalysts. The clay-based heterogeneous catalysts have many practical and potential applications in green catalysis. The review is mainly focused on the importance and the applications of these Pillared Interlayered Clays,

Topological considerations on microporous adsorption processes in simple models for pillared interlayered clays.

The microporous structure of pillared interlayered clays is determined by their interlayer separation and the distribution of the pillars that separate their layers. The pillars provide stability to these quasi-two-dimensional high surface area materials. In this work we present a topological analysis of available and accessible volumes within various simple models of pillared interlayered clay...

Adsorption of probe molecules in pillared interlayered clays: experiment and computer simulation.

In this paper we investigate the adsorption of various probe molecules in order to characterize the porous structure of a series of pillared interlayered clays (PILC). To that aim, volumetric and microcalorimetric adsorption experiments were performed on various Zr PILC samples using nitrogen, toluene, and mesitylene as probe molecules. For one of the samples, neutron scattering experiments wer...

Adsorption Mechanisms of Cadmium onto Pillared Clays and Chalcogenides

Interactions between Cd, pillared clays and chalcogenedies have been studied using nanomineralogical experiments. XRD, DSC and chemical analysis. The synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) was applied to characterize the reaction phases. The mean bond lengths between, Cd-S, Fe-S, Sb-S, Cd-Cd (in chalcogenedies), Al-Cd, Cd-Ti, and Fe-Cd, (in pillared clays) were determined by XAS ...

Scale Up Pillaring: A Study of the Parameters That Influence the Process

Pillared clays (PILCs) are interesting materials mostly due to their high basal spacing and surface area, which make them suitable for adsorption and catalysis applications, for example. However, the production of these materials on industrial scale is dependent on research about what parameters influence the process. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate what parameters influence th...
